Nothing will stop Him
Matthew 27:62-66 – The next day. the one after the Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate. “Sire,” they said, “we remember that while he was still alive, that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’ So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first.”
“Take a guard,” Pilate answered. “Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.” So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard.
Isn’t it funny that the ones who plotted to have Jesus killed, still didn’t rest after His death?
It’s described in the Bible that the day after the crucifixion was completely dark. An earthquake had happened shortly after His death, and darkness fell immediately.
The Pharisees and the chief priests wanted to make sure that Jesus was gone for good. They didn’t want the disciples ‘staging’ a resurrection. They certainly didn’t want Jesus to be resurrected. So they planned to make sure the tomb was well and truly sealed and totally guarded. No one would be able to enter in, and no one would be able to come out.
But nothing and no-one could hold the power of God down. He is stronger and greater than all, and He had His will on the third day, when His son was raised from the dead. Death couldn’t hold Him down. The chief priests and the Pharisees couldn’t hold Him down.
When God breathes life, He means it. Nothing will get in the way. He did it for His Son, Jesus and He will do it for you too. When God breathes life into your dream, nothing will stop Him. When God breathes life into your broken bones, nothing will stop Him. When God breathes life into your broken heart, nothing will stop Him. When God breathes life into that broken relationship, nothing will stop Him.
