He is alive
Matthew 28:20 – Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.”
The ending of a book is always my favourite. I love knowing how the story ends. Sometimes I get so curious I read the last page whilst I’m still at the start of the book. Surely the end is the most important bit?
This verse is how Matthew ends his book in the Bible. He ends it with the most important bit – Jesus has risen, and He says His last encouraging word for His disciples before ascending to Heaven. He tells them to go and do the Great work that they have been called to do. He has paved the way, now they must follow. Just like me and you.
Jesus died on the cross and came to life again, not just for a performing act. He did it to show who is Lord of all. All the glory goes to God for the Resurrection of His one and only Son, Jesus Christ.
He is alive. He is alive with us and in us until the very end of age. Because of His sacrifice, we’ll never be alone. We’ll never be out of His reach, never out of His Love. His grace covers us, His peace covers us, His love covers us and His life covers us. We are covered for the rest of eternity.
Today we celebrate His resurrection, and we celebrate Him being with us always as we follow the path He has set for us.
