He is on your side
Romans 8:31-32 – If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
A lot of people see a relationship with God as restricting. They see rules and regulations. They think that God is withholding good things from them in order to teach a lesson. They think God allows bad things to happen in order to discipline.
But this verse puts things into perspective. If God can give up His son’s life for us all, in order to save us, what else will He do for us? He’s on our side! He wants the best for us! He wants us to be filled with joy, peace and love. He wants us to walk along the path He has destined for us. He wants us to walk freely and lightly. He has a future and a hope for us.
He doesn’t want us to live limited. He doesn’t want us to go through struggles. He doesn’t want us to be depressed or have our hearts broken. He doesn’t want us to be unwell or suffer from diseases. He doesn’t want bad things for our lives.
He let His only son die on a cross for us despite our brokenness. He loved us so much that He was willing to sacrifice His own. And He can do so much more! His love doesn’t stop, His grace doesn’t have limits and His favour is never ending.
See God as a gracious provider, and not a judge with a hammer. See Him as the lover of your soul, not a restriction or religious leader.
