I have always been love’s number one fan. I had my wedding planned in Year 7 ( seriously, all of my maths notebooks were filled with drawings of my future wedding dress). So on last Friday, when my best friend and love of my life got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, my heart almost exploded with happiness.
Bradley Maybury is the definition of a prince charming. He never fails to treat me with kindness and love, he makes me laugh until my cheeks ache and he always makes me feel beautiful. I don’t think I will ever find the words to say how honoured and blessed I am that he wants me to be the one walking alongside him for the rest of his life.
He is a gift from God – one that I’ll always treasure and be beyond thankful for.
Anyway, I’ll stop being a soppy goofball now and tell you all the inside deets of the proposal…
So, on Friday 16th October I woke up with the worst headache. The weather was freezing and it’s safe to say that the UK was feeling a bit grey and dull. Bradley was staying my house for a few days and he insisted that we go out for a picnic. He had researched where he wanted to go, all we needed to do was get in the car and stop at Tesco on the way to pick up some food.
When we arrived at our destination (Dunstable Downs – highest point in Bedfordshire apparently…), the rain had just started. I looked at Bradley and asked him if he was really sure that he wanted to have this picnic. He said yes as we walked our way into the woods.
We had our picnic here. Luckily the trees protected us from any rain and wind.
After we finished eating, we were just sat talking about life when Bradley started to talking about the future and our relationship. I then clicked what was happening. He then revealed a little black box and got on one knee (The tears were pouring down my face at this point). He opened the box to reveal the prettiest ring every (which just made me cry even more) and then he asked me to marry him and of course I said yes.
He turned around and grabbed a champagne bottle and two glasses that he’d cleverly hidden.
Since Friday afternoon, we’ve been non-stop celebrating.
It’s safe to say that we’re both so truly excited for this next chapter of our lives. We want to thank all of our family and friends who have congratulated us and shared such kind words. We’re thankful for each and every one of you.
Oh, and if you wanted a close up shot of the ring…
