For a while I’ve been drowning in guilt about the amount of Chocolate Oranges I consume on a weekly basis (they used to be £1 in Tesco so I went a bit crazy for a while and now I’ve become seriously addicted and I basically need help). After confiding about this to my dear friend Emma over pizza, we decided that we’re going to make 2015 the year we get really, really hot.
So after intense Googling and motivating each other through WhatsApp, we finally attended our first spin class last night (I don’t know what made us choose spinning…). It was definitely a night to remember.
Okay, so our first downfall was that the spin class was on the highest floor possible so we were already worn out just climbing up the stairs. Secondly, we definitely were not aware that all of the bikes would be set out in a circle… Prime viewing for everyone else to see our failure. I also slightly regret wearing a fluorescent pink top with matching trainers, which was basically asking people to notice me.
It took roughly five minutes of us pretending we knew how to set up our bikes before an instructor came and helped us. Once we were finally ready to go, we gave each other a knowing glance, just praying that we’d survive the dreaded 45 minutes ahead of us.
We were really good at the warm-up but to be honest, from then on it was just down-hill for the both of us. The instructor kept giving us both encouraging looks, reminding us that “it’s okay if you can’t keep up, just go at your own pace…”.
We did survive though, and that’s all that matters. We waddled out of the gym looking like two freshly picked cherry-tomatoes. Emma struggled to sit down today and I struggled to walk. But it’s fine… We went and that’s all that matters.
Twinkle readers, meet Emma. Unfortunately this is the only photo I have. I wanted to take a really creative one of all the bikes but I got so flustered about actually exercising that I completely forgot.
Believe it or not, we’re going again next week. Keep us in your prayers.
