Today marks exactly three weeks since our wedding! It’s crazy to think how fast time has gone, but also how far away it all seems now. It was the most perfect day of my life, followed by such a beautiful honeymoon. Bradley planned the whole honeymoon (leaving me totally in the dark until after the wedding) and the entirety of it was nothing short of perfection. We left the day after the wedding and came back home a few days ago on the 19th. So a total of 19 days honeymooning – what a dream!
There were three different parts of the honeymoon.
We spent three nights and two days in Brighton. Bradley found a cute apartment in the center of Brighton, right by the seafront, through Airbnb. IT was small and cosy, and had everything that we needed. On the first day we walked through the lanes, went on numerous coffee dates, went to see The Jungle Book (100% recommend) and then decided to order Pizza to eat in bed. We spent the second day playing mini-golf on the beach, wandering through the pier and devouring spaghetti bolognese (our favourite) at Jamie’s Italian.
On the Saturday morning we woke up super early to head to Gatwick airport (with a mandatory McDonald’s breakfast stop on the way). At this point I was still 100% clueless as to where in the world we were flying to. My only clue was that it was warm enough to bring my bikinis, factor 15 and flip flops (double thumbs up from me).
Just before we checked in, Bradley told me we were going to Mexico! I hugged him and praised the Lord that I married such a good husband.
We stayed in the Paradisus Hotel, Royal Service in Playa Del Carmen. It was a 45 minute drive from Cancun airport. The hotel was pretty much a dream – we couldn’t fault it at all. It was all inclusive, beautiful and massive! If it weren’t for Bradley I would still be in Mexico, lost somewhere within that hotel (not that I’d mind). There were around 15 restaurants within the resort that we could choose to eat at for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff were all the friendliest people I’ve ever met and went above and beyond to make our honeymoon perfect. They even prepared our balcony hot tub for us in the afternoons!
We decided pretty much straight away that photos wouldn’t do this honeymoon justice – it was video-worthy. So my lovely husband filmed our stay in Mexico…
After arriving back home from Mexico, we had a day before flying to Bangkok! This technically wasn’t part of the honeymoon because Bradley was working. But because he has now been working for British Airways for 6 months (yay!), he has access to a few more perks. One of them being taking me with him! Now it isn’t all as clear cut as it may seem – I was put on standby, meaning I could only fly there and back if there was a spare seat for me. Thankfully there was one in business both on the way there and back (hehe).
We made a total school boy error of forgetting our camera at home. Therefore we don’t have any photos or footage of our time in Bangkok. However, it’s probably for the best as we were both beyond jet-lagged from Mexico. We spent 75% of our time there either asleep or wishing we were sleeping.
Thankfully we were put in such a nice hotel, so staying inside wasn’t all that bad. This was the view from our window…
We’re now back to usual routines, and I’m loving it. It was the best time of our lives and I’m so thankful to have these memories to look back on.
