Firstly, I want to apologise for the lack of posts the past few days. Since the engagement on Friday, my life has very quickly become all about weddings. Bradley and I have been to look at a couple of venues already and we’re carrying our little spreadsheet everywhere we go (I’m glad I’m marrying a boy with an accounting degree…).
Okay, forgive me for being naive but I honestly didn’t realise how expensive weddings are?! EVERYTHING is SO expensive it gives me an instant headache just thinking about it.
We went to our dream venue this morning and both of us (and my mum) fell in love with it. But as soon as we sat down and calculated all of the prices, we had a moment of silence for our very short-lived wedding dream.
In the car on the way home I realised that yes, having the prettiest wedding would be very nice, but at the end of the day the amount of fairy lights at the reception or the location of the wedding really won’t define the quality our marriage. None of that will increase our love for each other.
We’re celebrating our love and our future together – all we truly need is each other and the special people in our world (although a few fairy lights here and there definitely won’t hurt).
So whenever I get stressed about the size of our budget or anything wedding related, I have decided to focus on three things:
- God, who has all the glory for this marriage.
- Bradley, who sweeps me off my feet every day.
- And our future together, which I know is going to be beyond magical.
