This is the first time I’ve ever written a gift guide. Admittedly, I’m not the biggest fan of Valentines Day. I think it’s because I was single for so long that having it rubbed in my face for 21 years made me a tad bitter. Last year was the first time I actually had a Valentine, and unsurprisingly I loved it.
It’s nice to be able to go on a fun date for a silly reason. Especially these days when both Bradley and I are so busy with our own schedules, it’s particularly difficult to find time for a date day. Bradley won’t actually be around this Valentines Day because he’s flying to Chicago, but we have decided to go on a date at some point next week to make up for it.
So my apologies to those who hate VD, I feel ya – I really do. But I hope you can use this gift guide for a man in your life for an upcoming birthday or whatever.
But for those who are stuck on gift ideas for the apple of your eye, this post is for you.
Paperchase Cards (price varies)
In my opinion the best gift you can give someone on VD is letting them know how much you love them (sorry for the cheese factor). I love paperchase cards, they’re my favourite place to go to buy a card for whatever occasion it is. If you haven’t got a big budget this year, writing a note to say how much they mean to you will no doubt be more than enough to make them smile this Valentines Day.
Herschels Backpack (Around £75)
I personally have a small budget for VD this year, but for those who have a bit more to splurge… these backpacks are the hot trend at the moment. I got Bradley one for Christmas and he loves it. It’s spacious, looks good and it’s practical. I managed to buy his one in some crazy sale from Topman (don’t tell him) for £40. But at the moment the price has been upped to £75 again. Sigh.
Cute Valentines Socks (pack of 2 for £6)
For a boy you can’t go wrong with socks, right?! And these are just too cute to resist. I mean, I don’t know if the man of your life will appreciate the thought of puppy love socks but at least you’ll get a good giggle. And maybe you can even steal them for yourself after a week or two… I found these on ASOS, but most shops have a pair of adorable VD socks.
Back to the pricier side of the spectrum, I found this Etsy store that makes these personalised toiletry bags. They have a whole range of colours to choose from and you can have your man’s initials embroidered to give it that personal touch. I feel like this is a more practical VD gift – one that he can keep forever and one that looks good.
Personalised Cushion (£22)
This is one of those gifts you give to him, but secretly it’s for you. I found this cushion on Not On The High Street (an amazing online shop, that will make you buy something you totally don’t need) at a surprisingly reasonable price, considering that it is personalised. This cushion would look so cute on any bed or living room chair. Hard to resist…
You can never go wrong with aftershave. This is the smell Bradley had when I met him and ever since it’s been my favourite smell ever. What I love about CK is that they do “mini” sizes, which means that you don’t have to spend an extortionate amount of money on a bottle of aftershave for your babe. I found this 100ml on Boots for a decent price, considering what it is. But Bradley recently bought himself an even smaller bottle for £12. With him being a boy however, we can’t find where he bought it from so I’m unable to share that information with you right now… Apologies!
