WordPress kindly congratulated me on my one year anniversary of blogging this morning – yay!
I had made this blog about a month before I “officially” announced it to friends and family. In that time I fiddled around with the look of the blog – it took me a shockingly long time to figure out how to make it look half decent. I also wrote a couple of blog posts so that there would be some content to read once I had announced it.
One of those blog posts was called Happy Productive Day. I remember writing it as a bit of a joke, but the response I got from friends who eventually read it was incredible. People actually loved being nominated to have a productive day.
So I thought, in honor of my one year of blogging – it’s time for another productive day post.
HAPPY PRODUCTIVE DAY
You have just been kindly nominated by myself, to have the greatest, happiest, most wonderful productive day. If you’re feeling slightly anxious or overwhelmed at the prospect, don’t worry. I’m going to give you a step by step guide as to how to make your day (and the days hereafter, of course) as productive and merry as possible.
Wake up half an hour before your alarm normally goes off. This is slightly daunting, I know, but just trust me on this one. Take ten minutes to just lie in bed. Think about the the day ahead and ask yourself the following questions – What needs to be done today? What would you like to do today? Make a decision then and there to make sure all of these things get completed.
Go to the kitchen and make yourself a good cup of tea/coffee (whichever floats your boat). Take ten minutes to really enjoy your chosen beverage. Don’t think about anything other than how good it is to have ten minutes to simply enjoy your drink. Don’t go on your phone.
Take the last ten minutes before your alarm officially goes off, to remind yourself who God made you to be. Read Ephesians 2:10, where we’re told that we are God’s masterpiece. Read Jeremiah 29:11, reminding yourself that God has a plan and a purpose for your life. You weren’t created to watch the Kardashians on repeat.
Walk through your day knowing that you’re really great. Drink plenty of water and eat healthily, but treat yourself with your favourite snack at one point during the day because you deserve it. Smile at the people you walk past in the street and compliment that girl at work who you don’t normally talk to.
Instead of watching TV before bed, read a book with a good story line. Fall in love with the fictional characters and lose yourself in their adventures.
Go to bed half an hour earlier than you normally would. Thank God for the little joys in your life; your fluffy slipper socks, the text you received from your friend, the baby who giggled on the bus on the way home and the fact that you had a really happy, productive day.
