Seek and You Will Find
Jesus says “I want you to follow me so fully, so intensely, so enduringly that all other attachments in your life look week by comparison”.
I read that sentence a couple of years ago and I decided to let it change my relationship with God. I decided that I really, really wanted that.
Straight away, I went to the shops to buy a brand new journal and I started writing in it daily. I wrote that exact quote on the very first page, to remind me of the relationship that I so badly wanted with Him.
My journal started off just being a bunch of Bible verses that I liked, and notes from a couple of sermons I had listened to here and there. But when life started to get messy I started to write down my prayers. Some days my prayers were pages and pages long, and other days they were just a couple of sentences.
Over time I had these journals filled with prayers, verses and quotes that I realised my passion for writing and everything to do with Jesus.
Essentially what I had been doing every day was a daily devotional. Devotion is defined as a love, loyalty and enthusiasm for a person or activity. Synonyms of devotion include faithfulness, trueness, constancy, commitment, dedication and devoutness.
Devoting myself to God daily changed my life.
In Matthew 7:7 Jesus says “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened”.
When you seek a relationship with Him, Jesus promises that you receive will that relationship. When you ask God to pour out His love and His purpose onto your life, it will be given to you. When you knock on His door, He surely will open it.
I have had Daily Devotionals on my heart for the past few months, although to be totally honest I’ve been nervous to make such a big commitment. But the more I tried to push the idea away in my mind, the more I felt God nudging it back. So here I am, writing my very first devotional on my blog.
For the month of January I’ll be posting daily devotionals every morning (7am UK time), as well as my usual blog posts (5pm UK time).
I hope that you join me on this journey. The beginning of a new year is a great way to just start afresh and begin again. If you feel like you want that devoted, and strong relationship with God then maybe this is a step in the right direction.
Reading what I write every day won’t be enough to make you fall in love with Him, just to make that clear. You will have to take that step yourself. But I hope that whatever I write within these devotionals will inspire you to do exactly that.
If you want these devotionals to be sent to your email then you will need to subscribe to my blog (if you scroll down on your phone (or to the right if you’re on your computer), you’ll find a box where you can type in your email address. You need to verify it before you will receive anything!). But if you’re not a fan of emails, I’ll still be linking all of my blog posts on my Facebook page so make sure you follow me on there.
